How it works
From first contact to the recording in your inbox - here's what to expect.
The process, step by step.
-
Book your free intro call
15 minutes on Google Meet, Zoom, or Teams - your choice. You tell Steve what's going on with your animal. He listens, asks a few questions, and tells you honestly whether a session makes sense and which type suits your situation best. There's no obligation to proceed.
-
Short questionnaire
Once a session is confirmed, Steve sends you a short questionnaire about your animal - their name, species, age, and a brief description of what's going on. This gives him context before the session, not a script to follow. It takes about five minutes to complete.
-
Your session
In-person or remote, depending on what was agreed. Steve connects with your animal and works through what's there. For in-person sessions, he comes to you. For remote sessions, you join via Zoom. The session runs for the agreed duration - typically 60 minutes. Steve explains what he finds in plain language, as he goes.
-
Recording and written notes
Within a few days of your session, Steve sends you a recording and written notes covering the key observations and any recommended next steps. The recording lets you revisit what was said at your own pace.
-
Follow-up questions
Follow-up questions by email are included. If something comes up after the session, or if the notes raise something you'd like to understand better, reach out. Steve will answer what he can by email. For more in-depth follow-up, an additional session can be booked at the standard rate.
After your session, you'll receive:
A full recording of your session, sent by email. You can replay it as many times as you need.
Written notes covering Steve's observations, what your animal communicated, and any recommended next steps.
Email follow-up access. Questions that come up after the session can be sent by email.
What to expect - and what not to.
You can expect:
- An honest read of what your animal is expressing - not what you want to hear
- Plain language. No jargon, no mystical framing
- Practical observations you can act on
- A calm, unhurried session without pressure
- Confidentiality - what's discussed stays between you and Steve
What Steve doesn't promise:
- Specific outcomes or guaranteed results
- Medical diagnoses or health assessments - that's your vet's role
- Predictions about the future
- Contact with animals that have passed, in most sessions
Steve works with what's actually there. If nothing clear comes through in a session, he will tell you that rather than invent something. Honesty is the baseline, not a selling point.
Common questions before booking
Do you need to be present with the animal during the session?
Not for remote sessions. Steve can connect with your animal from anywhere - you don't need to have your animal physically with you during a Zoom session, though it can help. For in-person sessions, Steve comes to where your animal is.
What if my animal is anxious or difficult to manage?
That's often exactly why people book. You don't need your animal to behave perfectly - you need to understand why they're not. Steve is experienced with anxious, reactive, and difficult animals across every species.
How long before I get my recording?
Within a few days of your session. If anything is delayed, Steve will let you know in advance.
Can I book for more than one animal?
Yes. Each animal is a separate session. If you have multiple animals you'd like to work with, mention this in your intro call and Steve will help you plan accordingly.
Remote sessions are available across time zones. Steve is based in Waikato (NZST, UTC+12/+13). International clients in Australia, UK, USA, and Canada are accommodated - just mention your time zone when booking.
